The Boat Trips:

Early Bird Tour

As every bird-watcher knows, you need to be up and out early! The rich variety of meadow and marsh birds in this unique water-rich wildlife reserve with its swamp forests and reedbeds, makes this an unforgettable experience. Your local expert skipper guide will tell you all about the birds, plants and insects you come across – which if you are out early enough, might even include some deer. You will also learn a bit more about the history of the village of Giethoorn and the first people who settled here 800 years ago.

In short, you will have a very agreeable experience in just 2.5 hours. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars!

Along the way, we will provide coffee, tea and hot chocolate with delicious cakes from the Amoureus confectionery. There are comfortable chairs and fleece blankets on board.

Price: € 34,50 per person.

The tour is for a minimum of 8 and maximum of 10 guests. If you’re interested, but you are with a group of less than 8 people, sign up anyway. We’ll get enough people together to join you and let you know when your tour can begin.

You can also choose to go it alone and hire your own boat for a self-guided tour (max. 10 people). The price to hire a private boat is € 295.

Sailing Times
Boarding time is 5.30 am and we will be back ashore around 8.00 am.

If rain is predicted, the skipper won’t sail! We will let you know by phone/WhatsApp the night before if the tour is cancelled.

Nature trip
Discover the wildlife and beauty of the Noorderstouwe nature reserve on this 2.5-hour private boat trip. Board a traditional Gieterse Vlot in Giethoorn Noord and cruise along the central canal to the wildlife-rich wetlands. Absorb the calmness and tranquility of the area as you learn about the unique flora and fauna from your expert skipper guide. Watch for rare and beautiful meadow and marsh birds – from Bluethroats, Sky Larks and Black Terns, to Kingfishers, Marsh Harriers and Grey Herons, and spot some of the many other inhabitants of the area: the fox, the otter, a spectacular variety of butterflies and insects, not to mention a huge range of wildflowers like the cuckoo flower, marsh marigold, pimpernel and rattlesnake. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars!

Summer Evening Trip

In the summer months, join us for a delightful cruise out to experience nature in the warm light of the evening sun. Take a chance to relax in the calm and peace of our wildlife reserve after the tourists are gone and the deer come down to drink.

Don’t forget to bring your binoculars!

Price € 37,50 per person.

The tour is for minimum of 8 and maximum of 10 guests. If you’re interested, but you are with a group of less than 8 people, sign up anyway. We’ll get enough people together to join you and let you know when your tour can begin.

You can also choose to go it alone and hire your own boat for a self-guided tour (max. 10 people). The price to hire a private boat is € 325.

Sailing Times
Boarding starts at around 7.30 and we expect to be ashore again around 22.00. If rain is predicted, the skipper will not sail. Alternative times can be arranged in consultation with the skipper.

Custom private tours
Looking for something special for a close group of friends or family? Our custom private tours allow you to choose where you want to go with your own boat and dedicated skipper.

We offer a 2.5 h custom cruise for € 295, – (including food and drink.)
